The Windsor Classic Chorale is a mixed chamber choir founded in 1977 by Richard Householder, Professor Emeritus at the University of Windsor. The WCC gave its first concert in December of that year when it performed Handel's Messiah with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. Since August 2005, Timothy Shantz has served as Artistic Director conducting performances with guest artists and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. Highlights of the past and current season include performances of Fauré’s Requiem, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and a new series tradition, “In Remembrance,” on Remembrance Day.

Over the course of their history the Windsor Classic Chorale has made three television programs, including a performance of Handel’s Messiah televised nationally through CBC-TV Windsor. The choir has also been recorded for broadcast on CBC Radio. In 1989 and 1993 the Windsor Classic Chorale was invited to perform in the Toronto International Choral Festival. The choir has also given exchange concerts with the Guelph Chamber Choir, Algoma Festival Choir, London Pro Musica, and the Livingston County Chorale. They have appeared by invitation with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Allen Park (MI) Symphony, the Macomb (MI) Symphony and with the Sault Symphony in performances of Carmina Burana in both Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie, MI.

Since 1986 the Windsor Classic Chorale has performed between two and three concerts a year in a subscription series. Prior to the formation of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra Chorus, the choir was often invited to take part in the Windsor Symphony's annual December Oratorio performance. The Chorale also sings for other organizations and events in the Greater Windsor Community. In February, 1998 they sang in concert with the Vancouver Chamber Choir in a combined performance at Assumption Church, Windsor. A highlight of the Chorale's first twenty-five years was a ten-day tour of England and Wales in June, 1997, when the choir sang in Westminster Abbey, Wells and Salisbury Cathedrals, Bath Abbey and St. James's Picadilly Church, London, as well as in Cardiff, Wales. Past Music Directors also include Ronald Bemrich and David Buley.
